The first time was so nice, they had to do it twice. German-born luxury brand MCM Worldwide have teamed up with streetwear titans BAPE for another capsule collection, this time around joining in on the Lunar New Year celebrations.
Coming together for the Year of the Dragon, MCM x BAPE looks to redefine the very foundations and attitude of luxury streetwear, with the outfits intertwining their rich histories and archives together for a wide selection of luxury leather goods. Encapsulating both brands’ affection for bold monikers and patterning, the array of classic silhouettes range from the Backpack, Belt Bag, Crossbody, and Boston to the Weekender, North-South Tote and handheld Pouch, boasting playful graphic insertions such as BAPE’s notorious shark motif and MCM’s signature Visetos. The infamous BAPE STA logo is centred with a golden dragon that symbolises the “unapologetic confidence and irreverent style in the new year.” The luxe range of leather goods utilise MCM’s signature dark tan and black house colour palette, with each piece being adorned with durable gunmetal hardware, oversized graphics, curvilinear patterns, animalistic patches, as well as the collaboration’s co-designed logo.
