Mega Just Got Bigger.
In continuation of 14XX, Dr. Martens’ new design incubator, Rick Owens has been given the reigns on a pair of gargantuan boots called the 1460 DMXL Megalace boot.
Since 2021, the duo has linked up on numerous occasions, spreading Rick Owens gospel by means of Dr. Marten’s patented leather footwear. This particular iteration draws inspiration from the relentless impact of subcultures as per Rick Owens in a statement, “I love using our collaboration to celebrate raw and ferocious self-invented abandon like that of [London-based producer and DJ] Sissy Misfit, blasting techno with trans power.” He doubled down later by adding, “Dr. Martens always represented inspiration subculture to me, and I like honoring that tradition.”
The 1460 DMXL Megalace boots are the high iteration of the beloved boot, seeing Rick’s pentagram webbed lacing system donning the upper, intervewined in silver finishings. The boots tongue, and upper in its totality, utilizes Rick’s aggressive, sharp tailoring ethos, manifesting as a shin-length tongue and segmented leather upper.
Dr.Martens and Rick Owens’ latest collab is dropping on February 8th across both company’s websites as well as specific retailers like Ssense.
