Enrolment into Fragment University has been closed for months, and on the precipice of their first modules and lectures, Jeff Staple took to Instagram to tease Fragment’s potentially customisable Phoenix Waffle in collaboration with Nike.
Taking the general release Phoenix Waffle, Hiroshi of Fragment adds a suede upper featuring breathable, tightly woven mesh along the forefoot and mid-panel. A small piece of Fragment branding is pressed into the insole, and Nike makes their mark with a fully spelled out logo on the sneaker’s heel. A quick scroll through the Instagram comments and some internet sleuthing showed that the shoe may be customisable through Nike’s ‘For You’ campaign. The box on Staple’s pair reads “Nike by You” and the comment section is full of sneaker OG’s commenting on how their pairs seem a bit different. “I didn’t include the mini-swoosh in my order, as it wasn’t on the original design,” adds one user with a winky face.
