Tremaine Emory Finally Joins Forces with Arthur Jafa for Denim Tears Capsule

By April 29, 2024Fashion News

Long-Awaited, Much Discussed.

After being firmly up in the air for this past year, Tremaine Emory looks as though he’s got his Arthur Jafa collaboration after all as he unveils a new collaborative Denim Tears venture alongside the visual artist.

Emory’s well-documented stint as the creative director of Supreme ended in controversy as the multifaceted creative accused the streetwear outfit of upholding systemic racism, with this revelation being coupled with the scrapping of a collaborative Arthur Jafa x Supreme project – without Emory’s knowledge. Fast forward to April 2024, Tremaine Emory looks to his self-founded Denim Tears to finally team up with the American video artist and film cinematographer whilst taking a undoubted dig at Supreme in the process. Taking to social media to unveil the capsule, the range is themed around the title “Systemic Racism Controls America”, which acts as a distinct nod – and slight – at Supreme’s SS18′ “illegal business controls America” pieces, whilst also being designed in the Supreme typeface. The collection itself features similar stylings to that previous Supreme effort, ranging from all-over print “Systemic Racism Controls America” zip-up hoodies, graphic hoodies and t-shirts, as well as a selection of hats. Like Supreme, the collection also arrives in multiple primary colours, including red, light blue, grey, black, yellow, brown, pink, and grey.

The Denim Tears x Arthur Jafa collection is available to shop now via the Denim Tears website.
