Met Gala 2025.

It may feel like a lifetime away, but it’s not. With the first Monday in May now less than a few months away, the anticipation for the Met Gala, fashion’s most celebrated event, is steadily building.

To get us into the spirit, Metropolitan Museum of Art has unveiled this year’s official exhibition and theme, along with its star-studded co-chairs. Joining the lineup are Colman Domingo, Lewis Hamilton, A$AP Rocky, Pharrell Williams, and Anna Wintour, with basketball icon LeBron James making his debut as an honorary co-chair.

The Costume Institute will present an exhibition titled: “Superfine: Tailoring Black Style,” inspired by Monica L. Miller’s 2009 work Slaves to Fashion: Black Dandyism and the Styling of Black Diasporic Identity.

The exhibition will feature garments, paintings, and photographs that, as described by Vogue, “honour the unique style of Black men through the lens of dandyism,” tracing its rich evolution from the 18th century to the modern day.

It is also worth noting that this will be the first time since the 2003 “Men in Skirts” exhibit that the Costume Institute has launched a showcase dedicated entirely to menswear.
