Its First Dedicated Production Facility.
Onitsuka Tiger has gone next level by opening their new Innovative Factory in Tottori, Japan. A move that’s as much about high-performance soul-searching as it is about high-end manufacturing. By returning to the birthplace of founder Kihachiro Onitsuka, the brand is closing the loop between its mid-century heritage and a future defined by “Made in Japan” excellence. This is a vertically integrated powerhouse where material R&D, Milanese design influence, and the ASICS Institute of Sport Science collide. From the globally coveted NIPPON MADEsneakers to a brand-new venture into luxury leather bags, Tottori is officially the new global epicenter for the Tiger’s craft-focused evolution.
To mark the opening, Onitsuka Tiger tapped artist and cultural polymath Tomohisa Yamashita to design a commemorative MEXICO 66 NM L9. Drawing direct inspiration from the monochromatic beauty of the Tottori sand dunes, the sneaker is a masterclass in “Camel Beige” premium suede. This isn’t just a style play; it’s the very first product to roll off the Innovative Factory’s line, limited to a mere 1,000 pairs worldwide. Dropping in March 2026, the collaboration perfectly encapsulates the factory’s mission: blending localised storytelling with the pinnacle of Japanese craftsmanship.
