A New Space.
West Coast, we need to talk, because Aimé Leon Dore just announced it’s setting up permanently in Los Angeles, and the fashion crowd has every reason to be excited.
Teddy Santis and his beloved New York label have teased the opening of a permanent brick-and-mortar in West Hollywood through social media, and despite only posting a brief clip, it was more than enough to get the conversation going. All signs point to the new location landing at 8746 Melrose Avenue, placing it right at the heart of one of LA’s most culturally loaded neighbourhoods, and not too far from Kith’s own West Hollywood address.
The blueprint is already familiar to anyone who has spent time in ALD’s New York or London stores: immaculate spaces carrying the brand’s in-house collections alongside its most coveted collaborations, wrapped in an atmosphere that feels more like a private members’ world than a conventional retail experience. Café Leon Dore is expected to make the journey west too, and at this point the café is as essential to the ALD universe as the clothes are.
What sets the LA opening apart, though, is what it promises beyond the expected. The West Hollywood store is being positioned as the global debut of Aimé Leon Dore’s Women’s collection, which means this isn’t simply a new outpost on the map.
