Louis Vuitton Taps j-hope to Rework the Buttersoft Sneaker

Back to the 2000s.

Louis Vuitton has unveiled a new iteration of its Buttersoft sneaker, reworked in collaboration between Menswear Creative Director Pharrell Williams and House Ambassador j-hope.

Originally developed as a custom piece for j-hope’s world tour, the design prioritises comfort while introducing more personal detailing. The silhouette draws on early 2000s running styles, combining a lightweight, athletic structure with the house’s focus on Italian leather craftsmanship.

Finished in a rose and white colourway, the sneaker features a soft calf suede upper and layered rubber sole, alongside hand-stitched and hand-painted elements that elevate it beyond standard sportswear. Personal references are woven throughout, from wide laces printed with “Your, My Hope” to a Monogram cloche-clé detail and co-branded tongue patch.

Rather than a full redesign, the release is more of a character-led update, using subtle interventions to shift a familiar Louis Vuitton silhouette into something more individual and tour-driven.
