Soft Imprints. Two design languages, one very tactile collection.
Salehe Bembury doesn’t really do quiet drops, and this one’s no different, just softer, literally.
Five years after first collaborating on Absorbed Language, the designer, best known for turning fingerprints into some of the most talked-about soles in footwear, has teamed up once again with StudioPROBA founder Alex Proba for Soft Imprints, a new homeware collection. It’s a limited run of tufted rugs and throw pillows, with just 80 rugs and 200 pillows available worldwide, bringing the pair’s two distinct visual signatures together in one collection.
Where Bembury’s creative approach focuses on topography, texture and erosion, the kind of thinking that shaped the Crocs Pollex Clog and his New Balance and PUMA collaborations, Proba’s is built on colour, spontaneity and abstract mark-making. Across two rug designs, Bembury’s fingerprint-style striping radiates through Proba’s vibrant fields of colour, while the tufted pillows use raised, sculptural surfaces to give the patterns even more dimension. The collection sits somewhere between art and furniture, continuing the duo’s shared interest in material, pattern and form.
