Beyond Music.
Lauryn Hill is on a roll. Fresh from her second appearance at Diaspora Calling!, the artist returned to the UK this weekend to bring the festival to Milton Keynes, surrounded by a group of fellow creatives and collaborators.
First launched in 2016, Diaspora Calling! was created by Hill as a platform for music, art and conversations exploring the experiences and cultural contributions of the African diaspora. Its return marks another chapter in a project that has always extended beyond the traditional boundaries of a music festival.
Hill’s influence has also been increasingly visible away from the stage. The artist has become a familiar presence within fashion and cultural circles, recently spotted wearing pieces by Kwasi Paul, the contemporary designer known for his experimental approach to tailoring and a practice rooted in African diasporic identity and storytelling.
