Dyson’s latest launch could change the way we brush
Dyson has turned its attention to teeth, with an unexpected drop that has everyone talking. The tech powerhouse announced the CameraJet yesterday, essentially combining an electric toothbrush and water flosser into one device, with a built-in camera helping it target the gaps between your teeth while you brush.
Six years in the making, the CameraJet features a 100k-pixel macro camera that scans the inside of the mouth in real time, using Dyson’s Gap Optical Targeting technology and machine learning to identify the spaces between teeth. Once it spots a gap, the toothbrush automatically jets a targeted burst of mouth rinse into the space, meaning brushing and flossing are now combined into a single routine.
And because apparently we’re no longer leaving it to our dentists to see the inside of our mouths up close, the CameraJet connects to the MyDyson app, where you can see a live view on your phone. The app also features coverage mapping, guided cleaning and personalised feedback on your brushing technique. Dyson says images from the camera aren’t recorded or stored on the device or in the cloud.
Along with the launch, Dyson has also introduced its own toothpaste and mouth rinse, developed to work with the camera and jet system.
