Inside Centrale Montemartini.
Valentino takes a trip through time for “Interferenze”, its latest campaign shot inside Rome’s Centrale Montemartini.
The former power station, now part of the Capitoline Museums, is an unusual mix of ancient Roman statues and huge industrial machines. For the campaign, that contrast becomes the backdrop for a collection that sits between the ancient world and the modern day.
Fortuna, Polyhymnia and Cleopatra appear alongside diesel engines, turbines and overhead cranes, while models move through the space in Valentino’s latest looks. The campaign is shot with a cinematic eye, using flashes of light to pick out bodies, marble and steel from the darkness. The models’ poses echo those of the statues, creating a romantic link between the living and the carved.
