Back for round four.
Seeing things differently is nothing new for Maison Margiela and Gentle Monster. The duo first teamed up in 2023 and have kept things in focus ever since, now returning for a fourth collab inspired by deconstruction.
With 68 frames making up the collection, including 43 sunglasses and 25 optical styles, the release spans everything from oversized frames that wrap around the face to upswept styles covered in leather for a second-skin effect. Margiela’s signature four white stitches feature across the temples, while select slimmer designs introduce woven stitching that appears to float around the edges of the builds.
While there is plenty on offer to chose from, the launch itself will play host to eight pop-up locations across Seoul, Tokyo, Shanghai, Beijing, Bangkok, Kuala Lumpur, Melbourne and Paris. Taking cues from the collection, each space will feature unfinished architecture and irregular shapes. In Seoul, choreographer Damien Jalet and artist Ian McMahon will also stage a special live performance, bringing the idea of transformation to life through movement.
