The comeback.
Looks like Pieter Mulier is debuting at Versace in a big way, as Atelier Versace will be returning to the runway for Paris Couture Week next January, and it’s a real comeback since there hasn’t been a couture show since July 2016, making it a major moment for the brand and designer.
It will also be Mulier’s first couture collection for the house, since he took over as creative director in July. The date and venue are still under wraps, but a preview already appeared on the red carpet, when Nicole Kidman wore a custom dress at the Practical Magic 2 premiere that gave us a first glimpse of his vision for the house.
Behind the spectacle is a bigger reset as Versace has been reshaping itself under Prada Group, and relaunching the Atelier line is part of a plan that also includes discontinuing Versace Jeans Couture and the ready-to-wear sub-brands.
