A new space where shopping, design and sustainability meet.
Bali’s much-loved Potato Head has opened its first permanent retail space, Good Times General Store, designed in collaboration with architecture firm OMA. Located at Desa Potato Head, the new concept takes retail well beyond traditional shopping, bringing together local Indonesian arts and culture, sustainability and hands-on creative experiences in one space.
Built using locally sourced materials, the store takes inspo from Balinese architecture, but with a contemporary twist. Inside, visitors can explore five interconnected spaces featuring everything from Potato Head’s own branded merchandise and lifestyle collections to furniture and home accessories made from recycled materials.
Workshops such as natural dyeing will also be hosted in the space, alongside activities exploring weaving, upcycling and plastic recycling. The idea is to give shoppers a closer look at how products are made, the materials behind them and the people creating them. As Potato Head founder Ronald Akili puts it, “Retail can be more than a transaction.” And with Good Times General Store, the Bali destination is putting that idea into practice.
Good Times General Store is now open at Desa Potato Head in Bali, Indonesia.
