Outstanding Achievement Award.

Few designers have challenged fashion’s conventions as boldly as Yohji Yamamoto, and now the Japanese visionary is set to receive one of the industry’s most prestigious honours. The British Fashion Council has announced that Yamamoto will receive the Outstanding Achievement Award at The Fashion Awards 2026, recognising a career defined by radical tailoring, experimental silhouettes, and an uncompromising approach to creative expression. Scheduled for November 30 at London’s Royal Albert Hall, the ceremony will celebrate a designer whose work has consistently blurred the boundaries between fashion, art and culture.

Since establishing his namesake label in Tokyo in 1972, Yamamoto has built a distinctive visual language around deconstruction, volume and a thoughtful reinterpretation of traditional dressing. His influence stretches acrossgenerations, extending beyond the runway through his work in costume design and his long-running collaboration with adidas on Y-3. With this latest recognition, he joins a distinguished list of previous recipients that includes Giorgio Armani, Miuccia Prada, Ralph Lauren, Tom Ford, and Karl Lagerfeld.
