Soldier Teams Up With PUMA for New Suede Collab

Don't get your wallets out just yet.

The PUMA Suede has been putting in work since 1968. Originally made for the basketball court, the silhouette soon found its feet in hip-hop, b-boy culture and the streets, becoming one of the brand’s most recognisable offerings along the way. It’s also had its fair share of collabs over the years, and the latest sees PUMA bring Nigerian artist Soldier into the fold for a new take on the certified classic.

Created to mark the creative’s recent exhibition in New York during Fashion Week, the project pulls together a mix of camouflage patterns and archival imagery from Nigeria, which are layered across the sneaker’s upper. Rich brown leather details break up the busy print, while the classic Formstrip keeps things rooted in the Big Cat’s OG design.

The Soldier x PUMA Suede is an exclusive Friends & Family release, so don’t expect to see it landing in stores any time soon. The pair was recently celebrated with a dinner at London’s Shoreditch Arts Club on 28 October.
