Chanel Announces Kendrick Lamar As Its Latest Brand Ambassador

Not Like Chanel.

Having consistently commanded the spotlight, from appearances at the Super Bowl to the Grammys and now the GNX Tour, the acclaimed American artist is set to inaugurate his partnership with Chanel through the unveiling of a new eyewear campaign slated for later this week.

While currently circulating as speculation, the debut eyewear campaign featuring Kendrick is rumored to be under the artistic direction of the esteemed photographer Karim Sadli. In a formal statement regarding the collaboration, Kendrick Lamar commented, “Chanel possesses a timeless legacy, an attribute I consistently find resonance with. Given the house’s focus on womenswear, it was evident that our collaboration would naturally gravitate towards eyewear.”

Kendrick’s relationship with Chanel traces back to 2023, notably marked by his presence at the Met Gala, which paid homage to the work of Karl Lagerfeld. Following this, Chanel engaged the creative expertise of him and Free for their January 2024 haute couture show, entrusting them with the design of the set, which featured an illuminated Chanel medallion and a short film titled The Button. Despite Chanel’s primary focus on womenswear within its ready-to-wear collections, the house has strategically welcomed new male ambassadors, is this any spoiler of a future menswear line?
