Piccoli's first sneaker for Balenciaga
Demna’s Balenciaga-era sneakers made their mark on the footwear industry, but now it is Pierpaolo Piccoli’s turn. Introducing the Balenciaga Radar Sneaker, the shoe is Piccoli’s first for the house.
Accounting for the accelerating pace of contemporaneity, the shoe’s name derives from classic radar tracking technology. Inspired by the agility provided by radio detection, the sneaker offers an ultra-lightweight and streamlined design. A debossed Balenciaga logo is printed on the toe and tongue, making for a bold DNA-coded statement alongside a 3B sport icon and Balenciaga’s signature exposed shoe size.
Favouring versatility, flexibility, and responsiveness, the slender form is ideal for everyday comfort. The double lacing system threads around the entire upper, ensuring that the material merges with the wearer’s foot.
Following on from continuing balletcore trends, the Balenciaga Radar Ballerina will join the Radar family in late March. Cut in a slimmer, lower-cut silhouette, the ballet version will come in a soft grey and baby pink on black-and-white.
Balenciaga’s Radar Sneaker is now online and in stores. A wider array of colourways and a larger selection of stores will carry the sneaker starting from mid-March.
