The rumours were true, Olivier Rousteing is heading to Rabanne.
Olivier Rousteing has just been confirmed as the house’s new creative director, closing the chapter opened by Julien Dossena, who steered the brand since 2013. It’s a huge deal if we think about it: Rousteing spent 14 years turning Balmain into a global cultural juggernaut while building the “Balmain Army,” a red-carpet-ready circle of stars that made the label as much a social media force as a fashion one.
Where Balmain under Rousteing was pure spectacle, Rabanne has always leaned into the experimental and futuristic materials and construction dating back to founder Paco Rabanne, carried forward by Dossena’s fluid, fresh take. Rousteing’s arrival promises to push that legacy further into the mainstream, pairing the house’s pioneering codes with his gift for celebrity culture and digital storytelling.
“Joining Rabanne is a tremendous honor. This is a house that has always challenged convention, transforming bold ideas into creations that have shaped fashion history. Its spirit of innovation, craftsmanship, and fearless creativity has inspired generations, and today it inspires me,” Rousteing said in the official statement.
His debut collection for the maison is set to hit the runway in March during Paris Fashion Week for FW27.
