PAUSE Visits: The Hari Hong Kong

A Neighbourhood Hotel

There’s no place quite like Hong Kong. Towering skyscrapers stand alongside historic landmarks, Michelin-starred restaurants share the streets with generations-old eateries, and each district offers something completely different. Whether visiting to explore the city’s rich history, for world-class shopping or simply to experience its renowned Cantonese cuisine, where you choose to stay plays a big part in shaping your trip.

Situated between Wan Chai and Causeway Bay, The Hari Hong Kong places guests within easy reach of many of the city’s biggest attractions. Opened in 2020 as the second hotel in The Hari collection, following the success of The Hari London, the hotel has quickly established itself as a contemporary city stay. Offering thoughtful design, an enviable location and a more approachable price point than many of Hong Kong’s landmark luxury hotels, it appeals to travellers looking for a stylish stay without the formality often associated with traditional luxury hotels.

The Hari Hong Kong

One of The Hari Hong Kong’s biggest strengths is undoubtedly its location. Situated between Wan Chai and Causeway Bay, guests are within easy reach of independent cafés, shopping districts, cultural attractions and excellent transport links, making it easy to experience the city on foot. The hotel also offers guided neighbourhood tours, encouraging guests to explore the local area before returning to a comfortable base at the end of the day.

Designed by Tara Bernerd & Partners, The Hari’s contemporary interiors create a welcoming first impression, while curated artwork throughout the public spaces adds character. From the lobby to the restaurants and communal spaces, the hotel maintains a relaxed atmosphere that reflects its lifestyle approach to hospitality, one that complements the city rather than competing with it.

Rooms & Suites

Like many hotels in Hong Kong, guestrooms are on the cosier side, making the most of the space available. Large windows overlook the city skyline, filling the rooms with natural light during the day before Hong Kong’s illuminated skyline creates a completely different atmosphere after dark.

Rooms are well equipped with smart in-room technology, practical storage and the essentials for a comfortable stay. While they’re perfectly suited to shorter city breaks, guests planning a longer visit, travelling with extra luggage or simply wanting more space to unwind may find upgrading to one of the hotel’s suites worthwhile.

Dining at Lucciola

Lucciola combines an intimate restaurant with a stylish bar, serving classic Italian cuisine in a cosy setting. Freshly baked focaccia, creamy burrata, a rich carbonara and the veal, designed for sharing, are among the highlights of the menu. Each dish stays true to traditional Italian flavours, making Lucciola a welcome reminder that sometimes the classics are best left untouched.

Final Thoughts

The Hari Hong Kong offers a refreshing alternative to many of the city’s traditional luxury hotels. Combining a central location with contemporary design and an enjoyable dining experience, it’s a hotel that understands its audience. For those looking to make the most of their time in Hong Kong, it’s a well-considered base from which to explore the city.

A special thank you to Jade for arranging the lovely stay and to Kyo for the wonderful hospitality.
