We have seen plenty of standout collections and bold concepts, but COMMON has decided to take a more minimal stance with SS15 and the idea that less, in some instances, is more.
The brand has gone back to the start and has focused the collection around the colour white. It’s a new and clean approach, taking inspiration from the late 90s. With white forming the backbone for the majority of the designs, there are also hints of metallic silver and greys to bring different dimensions to the collections entirety.
For SS15 they have scaled back details and trimmings and are now focusing more on fabrics and subtle textures. Products we spotted at the show were tailored jogging bottoms – a PAUSE favourite, pure white shirts, tactile-bonded sweatshirts and also sliders, which have definitely been a theme throughout LCM.
In previous collections, CMMN worked around the idea of bold print themes and blackwork tattoos. In SS15, the focus is much more on intricate details and using whitework embroidery with white threads on white fabrics.
Roxx, body art tattooist, has had her work come alive on the garments and the details and lines are all very sharp and clean, as all the products have been woven by hand, using specialist hand embroiders.
