PFW: Louis Vuitton SS15 Collection

The waves are here and it’s time to bring out the surfboard as the Julien David Spring Summer 2015 collection takes inspiration from Californian surfer dudes.

The surfer dude that Julien David has created is a little more refined with a grungy edge to him while possessing unlikely quirks here and there. Formalwear and surfer wear came together producing a collection showcasing board shorts paired with blazers and bow-ties in relaxed tailoring making the models looking like chic surfers. Since David’s collaboration with street wear and sportswear brand Quicksilver, you’ll be seeing their logo appearing in the collection on t-shirts. Something unexpected were the two full wetsuit looks with tuxedo prints at the end worn by pro snowboarder Iouri Podladtchikov and pro surfer Marc Lacomare.

Now who says surfer dudes can’t look polished and cleaned up when the occasion calls for it. You can go from a carefree surfer riding the waves to a sort of sophisticated gentleman just like that thanks to Julien David.

The Louis Vuitton Spring/Summer 2015 collection was purely full of sophistication and absolutely timeless. This time Kim Jones brought out the wanderlust desire in us to travel to Rajasthan, the place where Jones took inspiration from for this collection.

Military inspired tailoring mixed with the grand elegance of the north Indian’s state of Rajasthan, gave a new spin to the air force look with army shirts and bomber jackets in luxurious fabrics. Jumpsuits in striking fuchsia, khaki and a navy one with embellishments gave a refreshing take on the air force look. When Indian inspiration comes into play, bright colours are a sure thing as Jones had them tastefully added in such as pick and orange without becoming overwhelming. There were hints of retro in the collection with geometric prints as well as structured outwears.

Pack your bags and travel to South Asia as this collection showcases a refined explorer who seeks the finer things in life.
