Soulland SS16 brings us back to art and fashion through Charlie Roberts.
“Iron Wheel Club”, Soulland’s Spring/Summer 2016 collection, is the result of the collaboration of the brand with American artist Charlie Roberts, know for his inspiration in art-history and pop cultural elements, as well as hip-hop inspired symbols.
Soulland used the artist’s sketches in a jacquard woven, in cordelia embroideries and as prints. The collection also included a special piece, characteristic of Roberts’ art: a white leather jacket with his hand painted drawings on it.
“Iron Wheel Club”, though, takes its inspirations also from African-American stories about rebellion, freedom and cultural innovation. This central themes of the collection are expressed in different styles through various fabrics, like linen, heavy leather and denim.
