Old school sportswear meets the new mod for TOPMAN DESIGN SS16.
Echoing a style that was once hailed in the North of England, Topman Design opened London Collections Men in eccentric style. Brandished with hard hitting patchwork slogans such as “Let’s Riot!” and “Long Live Rock N Roll”, the collection can be seen as an appreciative nod to the “Northern Soul” subculture which was prevalent in the 70’s and 80’s.
The collection itself features an array of clothing. From turtle necks to studded denim, there was definitely an element of British mod and rave culture underlying the main premise behind the collection.
The tone of the 4 day event was definitely set at the showcase. Topman Design brought forth a look that is to be expected in most upcoming collections for the approaching SS16 season – wide trousers. The look reinforced the “Northern Soul” ethos behind the collection in the loosely fitted nature of the trousers, reminding consumers about the comfort clothing should provide in the many different activities one might undertake whilst remaining an icon in their own personal style.
Alongside wide trousers, the collection showcased a range of fashion forward anoraks, satin bombers and skater shoes.
Providing something for both music focused consumers and those who are looking to elevate their style into something more explorative, the collection proves to hold something for everyone.
