NYFW: John Varvatos Spring/Summer 2016

John Varvatos’ first runway show in New York City could easily be assimilated to a rock concert rather than a fashion show for everyone wanted to be there, get the best seats and waiting anxiously for what would happen. When eventually, a melody of rock music slammed, the first model walked out: thin, extra tall, dressed in John Varvatos’ stripes. Centered around vertical ever-present stripes, the whole Spring/Summer 2016 collection displayed lines on grey pants, dark brown blazers and even on the runway.

John Varvatos’ Spring/Summer 2016 offering also threw in some rock aesthetic and a shade of Mick Jagger’s reference : just have a look at Brian Buenaventura’s hair stylism, bandanas worn as scarves and thuggish biker boots showcased. The final look, performed by Lucky Blue Smith, definitely scored a point:  with his word renowned white hair and a black and white striped suit, he marked the runway like no one. We thought we saw few rock signs being thrown out and tongues flaring away…
