General Idea present a minimal aesthetic for their Spring/Summer 2017 collection.
For a brand who usually produce a dark coloured line up, designer Bumsuk Choi has switched up the palette by using an array of soft beiges, pinks, greens and delicate shades of blue. The tailored collection features clean cut shirts with detailing of oversized pockets, material panelling and piping running along the seams. The lineup consists of straight line after straight line as the garments fall stiff along the models. Embossed-effect badges run through the collection, placed on the sleeves of jackets and shirts.
Choi has experimented with the idea of typography, as can be seen on the longline oversized shirt reading ‘Sunset On Mars’, and on cuffs of boxy trench coats. Suitcases accompany the lineup suggesting an inspiration from travel.
