The ‘Teddy Boy’ gets a modern update.
Previously characterised by drainpipe trousers, tweed print everything and hair slicked back into a quiff, the Teddy Boy is a subculture deemed never to go out of fashion. Apparently, we at PAUSE aren’t the only ones who agree. H&M’s upcoming Fall/Winter 2016 collection is an amalgamation of all things dandy – it encompasses stretchy rollnecks with cosy brown corduroy and supple suede jackets, whilst offering a contemporary update through trends of layering and modern silhouettes – not forgetting this season’s staple piece: the bomber jacket.
Another piece of interest within H&M’s AW16 is the ‘Car Coat’, made up of recycled wool. It’s paired with chunky knitwear and quintessentially British dog-tooth prints to ensure that remnants of the teddy boy subculture are in no shortage. The full collection is set to release both in-store and online by September 8th.
