In an explosive Instagram post, Alexander Wang posted a video meme accusing Philipp Plein of plagiarism. The show referred to in this instance is Plein’s January 2017 Plein Sport showcasing in Milan, which riffed off a similar race track-aesthetic to Wang’s 2014 H&M show.

Philip Plein’s marketing and communications director, Jennifer Leppla backed him up in an interview with WWD, saying, “I was involved in every step of the production of the Plein Sport FW 1718 show, working closely with the production team, our art director Simon Costin and Mr. Plein. Actually, the photo posted by Alexander Wang is rather deceiving, because it does not show the main theme of the show, which was the two-story gym hidden behind the reflective walls, which was revealed at a certain point during the show.”
