Breathability inspired by nature.
After their weatherproof and stylish FW17 offerings, North-89 has decided to follow up on their successful selection by dropping a Spring/Summer 2018 collection inspired by Scandinavian nature as well as the general aesthetics and experiences that come with the summer months.
Specifically, the warmer seasons bring a number of sneakers from North-89 that bridge the gap that is conventionally left between functionality and aesthetically-pleasing design. This is done via the use of forward-thinking breathable materials as well as a colour palette inspired by the natural Scandinavian environment. All of this combined with the comfort-orientated creative direction the brand had, has produced North–89’s most breathable collection to date.
Gustaf Secher, the creative director of North-89, had this to say: “For this collection I have taken inspiration from places where I spend my summers such as Stockholm and the archipelago on the west coast of Sweden. What we have focused on for this season is making our sneakers even more breathable. We have used perforated suede and increased our use of cotton mesh, which was one of our best sellers last year. This season we have ventured into using a new production method as well. We have deconstructed certain models, meaning that some models do not have any lining. This creates a more breathable shoe allowing for more comfortable wearing for our customers.”
As for quality, there is no reason to worry since the SS18 offerings have not only been designed in Stockholm, Sweden, and handmade in Porto, Portugal, but have incorporated a variety of high quality materials such as cotton mesh, perforated suede and nubuck into the process to make the sneakers durable enough to stand their own in the some of the toughest climates, such as Switzerland, Sweden, The UAE, and the West Indies to name a few.
