Tourne de Transmission’s SS19 Collection Questions Humanity and its Compatibility with Nature

last month we were covering the very conscious brand that is Tourne De Transmission and their SS18 lookbook, this month we are covering the label’s SS19 offerings as they were debuted at the inaugural Mercedes Benz Fashion week held in Kuala Lumpur.

Specifically, the brand took to the runway with a collection that was built from the inspiration found in the ancient Lycian city of Patara in South Turkey. Its once natural harbour made it an ideal trading spot consequently leading it to become a flourishing city and one that helped inspire the US constitution and Senate. However, as the harbour began to silt up and produce stagnant water a malaria outburst came and left the city in ruins.

This lead the label to ponder on whether our current societies are any more prepared to deal with what nature may throw at us than Patara was, using fabrics, patterns and textures local to the city and its surrounding areas to cast the question into the public eye. Take a look at the runway shots below.
