The next artist to feature in a Supreme collection.
Mike Kelley has been described as one of the most important artists of the last quarter century and when you see his work and what it stands for you can understand why. Specifically, the late artist who committed suicide at the age of 57 back in 2012 became an iconic artist as his work allowed him to become a commentator on American class, popular culture and youthful rebellion leading to the likes of Sonic Youth collaborating with him and even using his work on the album cover of their project ‘Dirty.’
Kelley started off heavily involved in Detroit’s punk music scene before moving to Los Angeles to use drawing and painting, performance, video, installation, assemblage and sound in his work. Take a look at how Supreme aim to pay homage to the late artist and get ready for the label’s drop that is set to take place on the 8th of September.
