A tribute to the Nineties.

The Italian lifestyle and sportswear brand that is Diadora have recently come out swinging with their Autumn/Winter 2019 collections that have seen the label turn their attention to reflecting the aesthetic of the nineties in a small array of clothing and footwear.

As for what to expect on the side of the footwear, the brand’s Rave and Distance 208 models have been constructed with full-grain leather, premium suede, and a neoprene sock. From here, the surface area has then been adorned with a number of eye-catching colourways that make the pairs sporty yet suitable for the street.

On the side of the clothing,  the brand has produced three iterations of their track jacket, all of which has taken their design cues from the original design of the autumn/winter Diadora ’90-’91 catalogue and uses both the colours and graphics of the period. As for its construction, Taslan, a technical fabric typically used for the uniforms of Diadora athletes of that decade, has been used in conjunction with a jersey textile for added comfort.

However, this wasn’t all that the brand was doing in order to celebrate its 70th birthday, in fact, the label also hosted an exhibition in order to give five contemporary and boundary-pushing artists the chance to represent speed in the modern world in their own form. Specifically, the exhibition, It Plays Something Else, curated by Davide Giannella, is open at Stazione Leopolda in Florence as part of Pitti Uomo 95 and features work by the likes of Maisie Cousins, Patrick Tuttofuoco, Simone Bertuzzi and Simone Trabucchi, Invernomuto and Gabber Eleganza.

Take a look at the Diadora Autumn/Winter 2019 collections below, if you like what you see then why not head over to the brand’s online store to cop some of their offerings. Also while you are scrolling why not check out a few images from the label’s exhibition below.
