In a bid to be more sustainable.

With sustainability being the hottest topic in fashion right now, Prada is doing its bit to reduce its carbon foot as the luxury brand recently announced its plan to only use recycled nylon by 2021.

After dropping an assortment of nylon heavy pieces such as bags and windbreakers, the Italian luxury house has announced plans to launch a new collection of nylon bags crafted entirely from recycled plastics. Although Prada has been using nylon materials since 1984, Prada will be expanding its bag collection with a new collection dubbed “Re-Nylon,” which will feature a shoulder bag, belt bag, two backpacks and more pieces crafted from recycled ocean plastics. Speaking with Business of Fashion on the new initiative, Prada’s head of marketing and communication, Lorenzo Bertelli said this new move will bringing about “a massive reduction of nylon and a big impact in terms of sustainability.”
