Harrods Ventures Out.
As brands continue to adapt to the new retail landscape, not even fashion’s upper echelons have gone untouched with Harrods recently announcing they’ll be opening a temporary outlet at London’s Westfields White City to shift surplus stock.
With the unprecedented buildup of products since the store closed their doors three months ago, their annual summer sale is set to be bigger than ever, having taken out Debenhams former 80,000 sq ft space. Speaking to Business of Fashion, Managing Director Michael Ward commented;
“It’s an unusual move for a store like Harrods, which is known for catering to the wealthy and has shied away from expanding its retail footprint beyond its iconic Knightsbridge flagship, save for a handful of airport concessions selling tourist merch. But faced with large amounts of unsold product and the likelihood of continued social distancing measures, the department store had to get creative”
Expect the Westfields White City Harrods summer sale pop up to open in July.
