Clarks & GCDS Collaborate on New Genderless Footwear Collection

Previewed at last week’s GCDS Milan Fashion Week runway show.

Timeless shoe brand Clarks have tapped GCDS for an all-new selection of streetwear-inspired shoes, with the new genderless creations being displayed at the recent GCDS Milan Fashion Week runway show.

The genderless range on the Milan runway show looked to dissect the viewer and ask them, “What scares you?”, attempting to highlight how delving into fear and fantasy in fashion can “unleash power and joy within.” Inspired by GCDS founder Giuliano Calza’s rebellious roots in subverting streetwear expectations, the genderless capsule Loafer and Mule collection captures the luxury fashion brand’s expressive makeup.

The shoes themselves are built upon the vast expertise of Clarks, with the shoes including all-leather uppers and a large buckle across the front of both, in addition to GCDS’ statement Penny Pockets.

In a statement about the collection, GCDS founder and Creative Director Giuliano Calza stated this:

“The starting point is to create an ‘apparently’ formal loafer, in which everybody can visualise themselves. I say ‘apparently’ because the aim of the project is to build up the perfect shoes both elegant and for everyday use.”
