Supreme’s immaculate run of collaborations may have just peaked with this newest Fall 2023 effort, which sees British artist Mark Leckey head into the limelight.
Falling into their graphic-heavy ways, Supreme’s latest stands on top of a host of recent collaborative efforts, working alongside the likes of Nike SB, MF DOOM and NBA Youngboy, with Mark Leckey’s artistic flair coming to the fore here. The Turner Prize-winning British artist was born in the outskirts of Liverpool in 1964 and went on to become one of the UK’s leading artists, typically tapping into subcultures of British culture and delving deep into the intersectionality between “youth, class, public space, popular media and technology.”
Back in 1999, Leckey debuted his seminal video essay titled “Fiorucci Made Me Hardcore”, which was a compilation of found footage detailing several British dance movements in the 1970s and 1980s, and this is what takes the stage throughout this collection. Supreme’s take on Leckey’s work sees the New York born outfit imprint his work onto a selection of two jackets, a shirt, two pairs of pants, as well as a t-shirt and skateboard, all of which feature images from Fiorucci Made Me Hardcore, Dream English Kid, 1964–1999 AD, and GreenScreenRefrigeratorAction.
