PUMA x Skepta was not a collaboration anybody saw coming, especially after the UK hitmaker’s various escapades with sportswear competitor, Nike. However, the duo are well and truly bound to one another as the newly-appointed brand ambassador debuts his first collaborative effort alongside PUMA.
Titled “Forever,” the bold new effort sees a familiar styling come into play for Skepta as he seems to take inspiration from his previous iridescent effort alongside Nike with their prior Air Max 97 “Ultra 17”, debuting a new – and definitely colourful – sneaker. Digging into the PUMA archives, Skepta pulls from various directions for this pair as wavy overlays run across the upper in a similar way to Prada’s America’s Cup silhouette, with iridescent reflective detailing also being utilised for a hidden splash of colour when flashed. A stretchy black mesh material lays under the striking overlays for a toned-down insertion of something simpler, whilst custom co-branded tongue and heel features align alongside silver metallic midsole and outsole accents. Lastly, substitute yellow and orange laces put themselves forward as extra doses of customisability, allowing this pair to truly become the wearer’s own.
The PUMA x Skepta “Forever” sneaker will be available to buy on May 18th via the PUMA website.
