LA’s Arts District hums with a raw energy, staying true to its industrial soul. Weathered warehouses, coffee-fuelled studios and neon-lit galleries, no matter where you are or where you stand, creativity spills onto the pavement, shaping an atmosphere that’s impossible to ignore.
Amid the grit and gloss stands Camphor, a Michelin-starred modern French bistro, quietly refined yet effortlessly cool, a culinary gem tucked into this ever-evolving art canvas.

Led by chef Max Boonthanakit, Camphor delivers a distinctive flavour identity through a menu that’s both understated and refined. Guests can enjoy shareable small plates, comforting mains, visually striking desserts, and timeless cocktails with a French twist. Not to mention an impressive selection of French and European wines.
Every element is intricately curated to reflect the singular culinary vision that No. 8 brings to the table. At the intersection of both culture and cuisine, through every dish, every pour, and every thoughtful detail, Camphor invites you to pause, indulge, and experience true artistry right in the heart of Los Angeles.

Camphor’s menu showcases classic French dishes elevated and executed through contemporary techniques. The high-quality cooking and gastronomic approach make it easy to recognise how the restaurant earned a Michelin star in under a year of its opening.
The Le Burger, made with a duck and sirloin beef patty, smoked Gouda, and duck-fat brioche, is one of the most popular items on the menu and has been ranked one of LA’s best burgers. Camphor is also renowned for the Onion Tartine dish, a deconstructed French onion soup on toast topped with Gruyère, our fave dish of the evening and a must-try for anyone visiting. Other popular dishes include the Ribeye- a speciality menu item, the Bread Pudding dessert and the curated cocktails menu inspired by popular Parisian landmarks.
