High Performance Never Looked so Good.
The highly anticipated Balenciaga x PUMA collaboration, first seen during the brands Winter 25 collection preview is now available. The collaboration brings together Balenciaga’s unique design aesthetic with PUMA’s rich heritage in high-performance sportswear, effectively blurring the lines between technical athletic wear and high fashion.
Accompanying the launch is a new Balenciaga x PUMA campaign, shot by photographer Ari Versluis. Versluis previously captured the Balenciaga by Demna collection and is renowned for “Exactitudes,” his anthropological photography series with Ellie Uyttenbroek. Redefining the Speedcat Sneaker, a design first launched in 1999 and known for its distinctive flat sole, Balenciaga’s destroyed Speedcat offers a deconstructed take on the original. Its upper’s structural elements are removed, resulting in a flexible, sock-like feel. This new version is finished with a cut-off Formstrip, a fresh interpretation of a motif that dates back to 1958. The collaboration also features a unique slip-on shoe that blends the sporty Speedcat silhouette with the elegance of a ballet flat. This new hybrid design is crafted from satin, offering a distinctive and stylish footwear option.
Featured alongside these are technical sweatsuits made from extra-dry molleton, adorned with the Balenciaga lion crest emblem, reminiscent of traditional soccer warm-up gear. Tracksuits are reimagined in both crisp and faded nylons, showcasing archival PUMA detailing from the 90s. Other unique pieces include a shearling “tracksuit” jacket and a trompe-l’œil suede bathrobe coat lined with brushed reverse molleton, all recontextualising brand iconography. Rounding out the collection are hoodies, T-shirts, and shorts in Balenciaga’s signature fitted, medium, and oversized cuts, all featuring co-branded Balenciaga x PUMA graphics.
