Beauty and Form.
Birkenstock’s elevated imprint 1774 just dropped its latest collection, and this one’s pulling from the 19th-century Italian Romanticism. Dubbed Romanticismo, the capsule reworks three of the brand’s most recognizable silhouettes through a lens of emotion and craft, leaning on materials.
The palette stays measured: Mustard Brown and Black, but the details are where it gets interesting: leather-wrapped square buckles, delicate piping, and considered stitchwork that give each piece a refined, almost literary weight. The original Birkenstock footbed stays put underneath all of it, because some things don’t need a rewrite.
The timing adds another layer as the Milano and the Boston are hitting their 50th anniversaries in 2026, and 1774 is treating that milestone with some intention. The Milano (named after the city that inspired it back in ’76) shows up in smooth Black leather with contrast piping and a structured three-strap construction that feels both archival and current. The Boston, that closed-toe icon, arrives in both colorways with subtle contrast detailing that lets the shape speak. Rounding out the trio, the Arizona comes through in a fully tonal Mustard Brown build and a sharper Black iteration with piping and stitching to match the collection’s overall register.
Romanticismo is now available via 1774.com and select retailers globally.
