Shot by Cedric Buchet, the new communication campaign from Yohji Yamamoto is a dynamic, conceptual and energetic look at the idea of the hero and the villain. As a designer known for his play with movement, layering and an avant-garde aesthetic, Yamamoto has once again created a powerful campaign with a strong understanding of modern style.

Bold colours, the blending of different textures and the exaggerated silhouettes of the pieces in the campaign add a sense of theatre and innovation to the collection. The mood video that accompanies the campaign features the active pieces in all their glory; superhero-like moves, homage to the comic book genre, and a Roy Lichtenstein-esque background in graphic monochrome spots that contrasts perfectly with the bold, vivid colours and designs of Yamamoto’s collection.

The fight-inspired scenes in the mood video bring to life the concept of the hero versus villain. Emerging from smoke, the two models battle it out with powerful and active movements that emphasise the ease and active quality of the pieces.

The collection will be released globally from September 2014 onwards.
