Haider Ackermann lights up the runway for Spring/Summer 2016.
Colombia born designer Haider Ackermann founded his namesake line in 2001 and has been gaining strong recognition for his unique designs ever since. If you haven’t heard of him yet, the fact that he worked with both John Galliano and Ann Demeulemeester will make you want to consider looking. Ackermann is known for his modern and gender-ambiguous silhouettes, and has got a brilliant way of finding balance between fluid and angular lines, mixing tailored details with casual styling. Draping, knotting and gathering are his strongest signature techniques.
In regards to his new collection, the designer incorporates masterly styled details. In theory it would be almost impossible to process all this at once; imagine leopard-print slippers matched with zebra socks under pinstripe pants below a Breton shirt and a chalk-stripe jacket. That is exactly what makes Haider Ackermann so great, he creates with harmonic control of so many elements.
In an interview Ackermann compares his collection to his ideal road trip. “I always wanted to be a dancer. I want to go back to Japan, to travel through Persia … these are all my fantasies of escape”. Judging by the reaction from the audience it seems to show that more people want to join his road-trip… (shot-gun!). View the rest of the collection below and let us know what you think.
