Alexander McQueen revisits Savile Row for their Spring/Summer 2017 Collection.
Presented via photography rather than the catwalk, Alexander McQueen marries sharp cut suits from the sixties with ornate embroidery, borrowed from the Indian Orient, for their SS17 menswear collection.
Stripes are on the MQueen agenda for SS17 and an all-out paisley ensemble cut Teddy Boy style. Here at PAUSE the London Savile Row cut feels familiar, MQueen challenges this by taking inspiration from traditional Indian clothing, pushing the collection into exotic territory.
Palette wise – besides a soft yellow trench coat – McQueen has kept this collection muted: navies, dusky red, cool browns. Thick embroidery, animal prints and jewellery fit for a Maharaja remind us that opulence is still at the heart of this MQueen collection.
