PAUSE Eats: Broadleaf

Set at the base of the east end’s iconic Tower 42, Broadleaf fuses all the ingredients required to form a perfect post-work satiation spot in the city. Entering what could first be mistaken as a bustling barfly mecca (albeit a sophisticated one), the space wraps around to present an equally inviting, yet slightly more subdued area for after work food with friends or a significant other alike.

Speaking of food, Broadleaf takes things as seriously as any high-quality restaurant. Sourcing the majority of their produce from artisanal, bespoke suppliers – their dedication to quality is commendable, particularly considering some of their nearby counterparts.

The menu is packed with delicious options like roast scallops, gin-cured salmon and sumptuous salads to start before opening into a slew of mouthwatering mains such as crab linguini, Cumbrian sirloin and a venison burger alongside a couple of more traditional ‘meat and two veg’ and delectable veggie options.

While the menu is perfectly complemented by an impressive array of wines, beers, spirits and heavenly cocktails, the real treat in Broadleaf lies in its staff. While we were looked after by the very amiable Mario, every other member of staff we encountered equally about as friendly as could be. While this should go without saying, it certainly doesn’t stand for every location in London.
