A decade in, and it feels like a reset.
Titled “Two as One”, Feng Chen Wang returned to Shanghai Fashion Week for AW26 with a collection marking 10 years of the brand – and, more importantly, the debut of a fully realised womenswear offering.
If you’ve followed Feng’s work, you’ll know this wasn’t about starting something new. It was about building on what’s already there. Her womenswear grows directly from the same DNA as her menswear – deconstructed tailoring, experimental fabrics, that balance of structure and disruption – but this time, there’s a softer edge. Not weaker, just more fluid.
Tailored suits came through sharp and familiar, while long coats in silk and knits brought in movement. There’s a push and pull happening throughout – hard and soft, controlled and undone- which is exactly where Feng’s work has always sat. This season just lets it breathe a bit more.
The styling stayed true to her “Two Forces” concept, with models walking in pairs in mirrored looks. It’s a simple visual, but it lands. That ongoing conversation between masculine and feminine still anchors everything, even as the womenswear starts to take up its own space.
What grounded the show was the return to “Life and Love” – a theme that goes all the way back to her Royal College of Art graduate collection. It started as something deeply personal, and now, ten years on, it feels like the thread holding everything together.
It wasn’t just a runway either. The whole thing played out across a series of live installations – dancers moving through a “Changing Room,” a live spray-painting workshop, a bedroom set revisiting her early work, and a DJ tying it all together. It felt immersive without being overdone-more like stepping into her world than watching from the outside.
There’s something quite clear about where Feng Chen Wang is at right now. This wasn’t a reinvention, it was a refinement. The brand’s grown up, expanded, but hasn’t lost what made it interesting in the first place.
Ten years in, and it still feels considered.
