Within the de Menils' Cultural Landscape...
Loro Piana invites us for a virtual day out in Houston to present their Fall/Winter 2026-2027 offering. Lensed by Mario Sorrenti, the campaign brings the focus to ‘The Menil Collection’ museum that was founded by the Franco-American couple John and Dominique de Menil. As patrons, the pair left an undeniable legacy to the art world, which Loro Piana celebrates. Sorrenti mentions that “the synergy between the collection’s refined elegance and the timeless, art-filled environments created by John and Dominique de Menil was profound. It allowed us to capture a natural, unforced beauty, a quiet dialogue between the clothing and these spaces, that felt both intimate and expansive.”
Now a historic landmark, the former residence of the de Menils’ is where Loro Piana begins their autumnal story. Designed by Renzo Piano, the landmark features interiors by couturier Charles James as the Menil Collection blends into the surroundings. The campaign then moves to the Rothko Chapel, which was opened in 1971. Envisioned by Mark Rothko, who is known for his abstract art, the chapel blends colour and shadow with glimpses of natural light. Engaging further with art, Loro Piana contributed to Opening Spaces – a project dedicated to the building’s preservation and extension. Additionally, the maison will support the Menil’s 40th anniversary gala in December 2027.
As these two distinct spaces are explored, the shades of brown, brick red, and green contrast with the depths of Rohitko’s monochromes. An intergenerational cast including Jean-Charles Blais, Sigrid de L’Epine and her husband alongside Richard “Dickie” Landry – an American saxophonist who performed at the Rothko chapel back in 1987.
