The LEGO Group & McLaren Celebrate Team’s 1000th Race with New Oscar Piastri & Lando Norris LEGO Release

Returning for another instalment of its ongoing partnership, The LEGO Group and the McLaren Mastercard Formula 1 Team have officially unveiled a new range of co-created LEGO products and driver helmets in collaboration with McLaren stars, Lando Norris and Oscar Piastri.

Celebrating the team’s 1000th race in Monaco, the latest release from LEGO and McLaren features two LEGO Editions helmets that have been co-created with the team’s leading F1 drivers, whilst two real driver helmets based on the new sets are also primed to debut at this weekend’s Monaco Grand Prix. The vibrant helmet duo arrive alongside two life-like LEGO figurines of Lando Norris and Oscar Piastri, with these mini-figures being the first of their kind for The LEGO Group.

Putting on for the loyal “Papaya” fans, the LEGO Editions McLaren Mastercard F1 Team Oscar Piastri Helmet, which is composed out of 793 pieces, has McLaren’s one-of-one design DNA all over it, boasting the signature McLaren papaya colour scheme as well as Oscar’s personal favourite shade of blue. Additional nods to Piastri include his driver number and fully-printed patterns seen on the anniversary special car livery, whilst Piastri’s mini-figure is clad in a hand-picked outfit chosen by the man himself.

On the flip side, Lando Norris’ take sees the LEGO Editions McLaren Mastercard F1 Team Lando Norris Helmet place Norris’ iconic fluorescent blob design at the forefront of things, whilst organic shapes tie in with his new driver number, the “1”, in a brick-built structure. In the same vein as Piastri, Norris’ figurine had an outfit hand-picked by himself and featured unique printed details.

Working in tandem, Norris and Piastri aligned themselves with LEGO’s creative team – most prominently with Daniel Meehan Creative Lead of LEGO F1 – to co-create products that reflect the two’s distinctive personalities. Meehan had this to say about the co-created LEGO x McLaren collection:

“We worked closely with Lando and Oscar on creating their helmets for fans to build and display at home. They had some great ideas, which we cannot wait for fans to discover when building the sets at home. Creating such organic shapes at this scale always presents us with exciting opportunities for exploring new building techniques and creative parts usage. We hope fans will enjoy building – perhaps as they cheer on the drivers.”
