Set along Haitang Bay, Rosewood Sanya feels as if it were designed with its setting in mind. The resort is the brand’s first beach resort in mainland China and follows its approach of creating hotels that reflect the culture, community and character of their surroundings. From the moment of arrival, Rosewood Sanya feels luxurious and incredibly relaxing. Set across a large, beautifully landscaped property, there is plenty of greenery between the buildings, while the South China Sea is never far from view. There is a private beachfront, places to stop for a coffee or ice cream, boutiques and pop-ups to discover, but nothing feels particularly rushed. Instead, the resort encourages guests to settle into its surroundings and make the most of being in Sanya.

Rooms Designed to Unwind
With 244 rooms and suites, Rosewood Sanya offers a wide range of accommodation, from 68 sqm Ocean View Rooms to expansive pool suites and residences. The emphasis, however, is less on simply having a place to sleep and more on making the room part of the escape.
The rooms are spacious, luxurious and designed around the views, with panoramic windows looking out over the surrounding landscape, while some suites offer breathtaking views of Wuzhizhou Island. In-room features such as deep-soaking bathtubs positioned beside windows that open out towards the views, encourage relaxation and make it easy to enjoy the room as a place to unwind.
The level of service also reflects the resort’s positioning, offering a personalised butler service and WeChat communication throughout the stay. It’s the kind of detail that’s particularly useful in a resort of this size, allowing requests to be handled quickly without having to leave the room or track down a member of staff.
For those wanting to take the experience further, the higher room categories add private pools and significantly more space. The resort’s largest accommodations include the 540 sqm Haitang House and 680 sqm RiYue Residence, although even the entry-level Ocean View Rooms are generous by resort standards.

Drinking & Dining
Dining is spread across the resort, with options ranging from The Fishmonger, a Hainan market-style restaurant focused on fresh seafood, to East Kitchen, Chop House and the Mayan Beach Bar. HAI serves afternoon tea and also doubles as a bar, while The Lounge occupies the 14th floor and offers cocktails, wines and light bites.
Breakfast is another highlight, with an extensive spread covering everything from traditional breakfast dishes and dim sum to freshly prepared options and a selection of seasonal fruits. There is plenty of choice without it feeling overwhelming, making it an easy way to start the day before heading out to explore the resort or Sanya.
Local produce also features across the resort’s dining experiences, with the South China Sea, Hainan’s fishing traditions and the culinary heritage of the Dan Jia people all influencing the menus.

Above Sanya
On top of everything the resort has to offer, the feeling of serenity doesn’t end on the grounds. One of its standout spots is found high above. More than just a bar, HAI is also home to the hotel’s infinity pool, situated on the 13th floor and offering breathtaking views of the South China Sea. The 110-metre infinity-edge pool gives guests a completely different perspective from the beach below, with picturesque views stretching across the coastline towards Wuzhizhou Island. With sunbeds and cabanas available throughout the day, it’s the perfect place to lay out while taking in the views from sunrise through to sunset.
