Closing an era.
After six years at the helm, Glenn Martens is leaving Diesel, with next week’s Spring/Summer 2027 show in Milan set to be his final collection for the Italian brand. Martens joined Diesel in 2020 and quickly reshaped the label around its irreverent, youth-focused identity, bringing together exaggerated denim, provocative imagery and a more experimental approach to both product and presentation.
The departure also marks a shift in Martens’ focus. Since January 2025, the Belgian designer has simultaneously served as Creative Director of Maison Margiela, taking over from John Galliano while continuing his work at Diesel. He will now dedicate his attention to the Paris-based house, leaving Diesel after a period that has fundamentally changed how the brand operates within contemporary fashion. A successor has yet to be announced, meaning next week’s Milan show will also close out one of Martens’ most significant chapters to date.
